The Bureau of Land Management may manage our public lands, but it's We The People that own it. It's up to all of us to protect biological and cultural resources, keep our trails maintained, trailheads clean, and the landscape healthy for current and future generations to enjoy. You can help by volunteering for various activities including staffing the Sloan Canyon NCA visitor contact station, community outreach, being part of a trail crew, or monitoring trail conditions. Current volunteer opportunities are listed on our Event page. When you're ready to get involved fill out your info below and we'll get back to you as soon as possible to get started.

  • Contact Station Info Desk

BLM is nearing completion on construction of the permenant visitor contact station, and we'll soon be helping BLM recruit and train volunteers so the we can be ready to welcome visitors when it opens to the public in early 2027. You would be greeting visitors and answering questions about the NCA's trails and features in a climate controlled, indoor environment during scheduled shifts. Details to follow in the weeks ahead!

  • Trail Maintenance & Litter Team

Join a crew dedicated to  performing light trail maintenance tasks such as clearing debris, installing/replacing trail markers, restoring disturbed landscapes, or collecting litter. This is a great activity to do with groups of friends, neighbors, or co-workers. We provide all the tools and protective equipment.

  • Community Outreach

Table with us at various community events throughout the year. With the new Visitor Contact Station going operational in 2027 near the Petroglyph Trailhead, we plan on setting up our pop-up contact station on the weekends at various other Sloan trailheads to speak with visitors, answer questions, and promote safety and responsibility.
